A Personal AI Story

Why I Teach AI

In the summer of 2023, while working as a Senior IT Project Manager for a federal agency, my team was discussing recommendations for the next fiscal year’s projects.

During a team call, my manager made a simple request:

“Create a business case for a new AI project.”

At the time, I had only been using ChatGPT for a few weeks. I liked it—but I hadn’t yet realized how powerful it could be.

So during the meeting, I opened ChatGPT and asked it to help draft the business case.

Within minutes, I had a strong first draft.

It wasn’t perfect.
It wasn’t finished.

But I was stunned by how quickly something genuinely useful had appeared. I pasted it into the team chat immediately.

That moment changed everything.

For the first time, I realized AI wasn’t just another technology trend. It was a powerful partner for thinking, creating, and solving problems.

If AI could help create a strong first draft for a complex federal project in minutes…

What else could it do?

That question has stayed with me ever since.

Today, I teach AI because I’ve seen firsthand how it can unlock creativity, productivity, confidence, and new possibilities for real people.

And honestly?

Sometimes it still surprises me.
